November 15th, 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 Noon the Citizen Review Panel of Outagamie County will host a Town Hall meeting at Valley Baptist Church. The Citizen Review Panel is a group of people established by federal legislation called the Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act (CAPTA). The Citizen Review Panel has the responsibility to examine how the state and local agencies are accomplishing the mission of preventing and treating child abuse and neglect. Part of our responsibility is to receive input from the community and to educate the community concerning child protection.
I want to encourage any of you who can to attend this session. This is an area where the churches need to be setting the standard. Also since 2004 clergy in Wisconsin are considered mandated reporters for child sexual abuse. Please take a look at the attached flyer and consider inviting anyone in your church who works with children. The meeting will feature an enactment of a intake call to social services, a panel of people who engage issues related to child protection and displays of resources available to those wanting to be a part of protecting our children.
Please consider passing the attached flyer along to anyone who may be interested.
