Several years ago, I had the honor of ministering regularly at our Special Touch Chapter in Oak Creek. I developed a friendship with a young man with MS who I will call “Ken.” He had an university degree and worked in a local hospital’s lab as a tester. Unfortunately, Ken had to give up his job when he received his diagnosis. This left him feeling hopeless and alone, only to wallow in self-pity. Then Ken started attending the Chapter and soon realized there is hope for people with disabilities. As a result, he decided to go back to work and ask his employer to accommodate his wheelchair and other disability concerns. The hospital graciously agreed and invited Ken back to work.
We’re in the process of planting a Special Touch Chapter right here in the Valley for people like Ken who need to hear a positive message of hope and God’s love. We desperately need volunteers to help this new group.
We are having a meeting on Thr. Aug. 2, at 6:30 p.m. for anyone interested, including those who have disabilities. Jaymee Strickland from Oklahoma will be our guest speaker for the evening. She has a heart for people with disabilities that they are loved, have a purpose and more then that, that God has a plan for them. Please come and hear what she has plan for all of us, it’ll be fun!
We will be meeting at the Appleton Library, Thr. Aug. 2 at 6:30 in the lower level. Please let me know if you’ve any questions.
Hope to see you there!
