Town Hall Meeting

Dear Colleagues,

As leaders in the faith community we have the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of families. Child abuse and neglect are tragic realities in any community.

I have had the opportunity to serve on the Citizen Review Panel for Child Protective Service in Outagamie County for the past 11 years. Andrea Albert-Buss and I have served as Co-Chairs of this panel in recent years. This panel reviews the systems in place to protect our children and families.

Part of our responsibility is to educate the people of the community about issues of child abuse and neglect. We also need to receive input from the community to understand the perceptions and needs related to these issues.

In an effort to fulfill these responsibilities, a Town Hall meeting will be held on April 30th, 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Valley Baptist Church, 3600 N Chippewa Street, Appleton. At the meeting a panel consisting of the two Citizen Review Panel Co-Chairs, representatives from Children, Youth and Family Services, Law Enforcement and Foster Care will provide information and respond to questions.

A presentation will also be given regarding reporting child abuse and neglect. Since 2004 clergy have been included as mandatory reporters for child sexual abuse. Judy Hugg, from Child, Youth and Family will give guidelines for reporting and answer questions related to reporting child abuse and neglect.

We would love to have your input on this vital subject. Please come and encourage those under your care to come to both learn about the issues and contribution to the solution of protecting one of our most valuable resources—our children.

FCEMF – Pantry Needs

Greetings in Jesus,

I am writing to request your consideration of doing a food drive with your church for the Freedom Center Food Pantry as this ministry continues to grow.

Your donation will assist us in outreach to the community. We have become an integral part of our community, already serving well over two hundred families every Wednesday evening. The Gospel is clearly proclaimed, thousands of bibles have been given out and many people have put their faith in Christ Jesus already.

In the first 3 months of this year we have helped over 3,600 individuals. That’s up over 120% from last year.

Presently, we receive food primarily from Feeding America out of Omro. Various food items can be purchased for about 19 cents per pound. We are currently going through about 5,000 pounds per week. Over the last couple months the selections have been slim and we do not have much verity to offer our pantry guests. This is where church food drives would be very helpful, to fill in much needed items we haven’t been able to purchase, such as:

Canned Fruit

Soups

Boxed foods (Macaroni and Cheese, Hamburger Helper, etc.)

Ketchup

Peanut Butter

Cereal

This ministry has grown much quicker than expected and God continues to provide and send laborers, and it is my prayer that He continues to do according to His good pleasure. I believe a part of His desire is for the church to come together in unity to help the poor.

Thank you for your consideration of these requests, and please don’t hesitate to contact us for more information.

Sincerely,
Pastor Landon Churchill
